To make it easy for our readers to find the Taxpat Lists, we provide links to all of them here.<\/h2>\n

Every quarter, under provisions in the 1996 Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act, the IRS publishes a list of the names of U.S. citizens who have formally renounced their U.S. citizenship. The official name for those lists is “Quarterly Publication of Individuals, Who Have Chosen To Expatriate, as Required by Section 6039G”<\/em>. The congressmen who promoted these lists called them the “Name and Shame Lists”, incorrectly thinking that publishing the names of wealthy Americans who renounced would shame others into staying.\u00a0But it didn’t work. Expats now refer to the lists as the “Taxpat Lists” and today, many even view having their names appear on one of the lists as a badge of honor, indicating that they were smart enough to get out before things got really bad.<\/p>\n

We total up the number of names on each list, as soon as it comes out each quarter and make the totals available in a special announcement. But if you want to do your own research, we provide links to those lists below. Included here also, is a chart showing how those lists have grown in recent years.<\/p>\n
